For this world, only the above roles are plot-protected. They cannot be usurped or recreated. Otherwise on this AU Plotting Post, feel free to go wild! Volunteer to be the Right Hand of the Family Head, be the child of the former deceased mayor, you can even be another traitor if you'd like, do whatever your heart craves.
To elaborate on the purpose of the Courier, they essentially are the one-man postal service for the entire town. So please make liberal use of the Courier Mail Service if you're looking to have anything delivered across 'enemy lines', have gifts you want to send, are looking to get in direct contact with a Family Head, or even send stuff anonymously. It's highly encouraged in order to make sure that we keep our Courier running!
In addition, two roles are hidden amongst the Remixed characters. The Traitor and The Family Dog are both hidden roles and finding them is vital to the world's plot and the final decision! So get a hunting. :')
Mod Characters.
Mod Characters aren't necessarily role-holders who directly influence the plot, but if you ever feel lost in the AU, feel free to reach out to us and we'll get you hooked onto something!
The Xian Le Family, with Xie Lian as its head, upholds the core values of Grace and Loyalty. A family that previously relied on political collections, they once enjoyed the backing of the town's mayor in order to acquire power and lived luxurious lifestyles. However given the death of the mayor half a year earlier, and then the assassination of the Xian Le heads two months ago, the family now finds itself in a bit of turmoil. Unrest grows as smaller sects within the family are beginning to turn toward more nefarious acts in order to stabilize themselves. Knights, Nomads, and Rulers will be sorted into this family.
The Mori Family, with Chuuya Nakahara as its head, upholds the core values of Loyalty Above All Else as well as presenting a United Front. Previously there were many smaller families that existed in opposition to the Xian Le Family and were consolidated over the years into the Mori Family for strength in numbers. The former head before Chuuya was more paranoid and defensive, but would do anything in order to ensure the survival of their families and their comfort. However the general rule of thumb is that as long as you don't do anything to disgrace the family, you're good to go. Artists, Mages, and Thieves will be sorted into this family.
As per the last AU, if you wish for your character to be in a different family from the one they're sorted into - that's fine! Their faction will determine which one they were born into, but you can build their AU based on their swaying convictions if you so choose - but understand that there will be considerable IC pressure not to! Characters can also choose to be Neutral. It's difficult, but not impossible.
The AU will take place entirely on a small, sleepy town by the name of Montevallo! A river runs down the middle of town, and there are a number of bridges that will allow people to cross over it, but there is also a neutral zone that remains standing at the very center. The neutral zone contains a town hall, a school, the only bar in town (15's the drinking age), and the only ammunitions shop. There is no hospital, but characters are free to have their own individual practices. Isn't that nice?
The Xian Le live to the West of the river, whereas The Mori live to the East of the river. There are also warehouses, businesses, and houses on both sides, belonging to the people who belong to that family. Characters are free to claim ownership of whatever land they'd like! Outside of the town, they're surrounded by a forest that is overrun with bears, wolves, and moose. (Meese? Moosen? Moose.) Overall, the climate is rather temperate with the occasional rainy day.
For this world, there is no magic. Remixed characters will forfeit canon powers while they are remixed.

The mayor of the town died about half a year ago and well, considering that there are these powerful mafia families about - what use was there in trying to appoint a new one? Clerical staff still exists in order to deal with the nitty gritty administration in the places they can but well, it's the underworld's town and what they say goes.
They say that lately the families are trying to coexist but… who can say how well that's going to go?
Anna got to go on Pinterest. Please review her hard work. While these are provided to help give an idea of fashion and architecture, they are just guides! Do what your heart pleases as long as you don't break the general guidelines of the AU.

That's right, characters will be stuck in the olden days. Major forms of correspondence will be through mail and telephone booth. If you really want to telegram, you can. However there are no televisions, computers, or any form of digital technology. There's radio though? Lamp posts decorate the streets and your cars don't have seatbelts!

Friday, January 31st: Date Auction. :) As a show of good faith between the two families, they will be mingling together for a good old fashioned date auction, you know, for charity. Please sign up your character here! You can also have someone else sign them up if they wouldn't do it themselves. We will later be crowdsourcing writing blurbs for them as well. ;)
Friday, February 14th: It's Valentine's Day, baby! A classic tradition for the town is to participate in a lantern festival where lovers and those who wish for love float their boat down the river.
Break-Ins: Well, with all those warehouses, don't you think they're just asking to be opened? The mods will be taking sign-ups for break-ins throughout the weeks that other events aren't happening.

okay so baren was also a bodyguard for the Xian Le family, and specifically to Xie Lian himself, so i'm thinking that - oh god how old is seph - anyway baren's 22 at this point so they could've been trained as bodyguards together or something!! basically old friends and idk how seph felt when baren went neutral but
